Clari Cantores, founded in 2014, is a mixed adult choir that largely consists of former members of the Clari Cantus youth choir, supplemented with new faces. Under the professional leadership of Michiel Haspeslagh, the choir continuously raises the qualitative bar and does not shy away from a singing challenge. It presents a varied and challenging repertoire in different styles, from ancient to modern.
The choir has already presented an extensive and very varied program including the Requiem by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the Missa Serena by Bruno De Soomer, the Requiem by Gabriel Fauré and Die Schöpfung by Joseph Hayden.
In addition, it also presented various theme concerts with more contemporary work by, among others, Withacre, Chilcott, Høybe, Samuel Barber, but also, for example, baroque classics from Handel’s Messiah or the double choir motet ‘Der Geist hilft unsrer Schwachheit auf’ by J.S. Bach.
Next spring – in March 2024 – Clari Cantores will perform the Johannes-Passion by J.S. Bach.
Rehearsals take place in Blauwput (Leuven) every Tuesday evening from 8 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.
